Diagnosis

CMC dislocations can be difficult to appreciate due to overlapping bony structures on radiographs. Therefore, multiple views should be obtained: PA, lateral, and oblique views. The lateral view typically will best demonstrate the dislocation. A single PA view will likely miss the diagnosis.
