Wrist Case 12 Background

An intra-articular radial styloid fracture, also known as Hutchinson fracture or chauffeur’s fracture, typically occurs from impact along the radial side of the wrist.  The fracture is usually a transverse or oblique fracture line from the metaphysis to the scaphoid fossa. The radial styloid is an important site of attachment for the major carpal ligaments of the wrist, so there is often significant ligamentous disruption with this fracture.
