Pediatrics Case 12 Background

Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease is avascular necrosis of the femoral head. The exact cause is unknown, but it generally occurs in children between the ages of 3-12, with peak incidence ages 5-7. LCP is more common in boys, occurring at a 4:1 male-to-female ratio. Approximately 10% are bilateral.
