Hand Case 14 History/Physical Exam

The patient will complain of significant pain and swelling to the fingertip/pad, normally developing over a few days. There may or may not be an identifiable etiology. On exam, there will be tense swelling, erythema and tenderness of the finger pulp. Fluctuance may or may not be present. The erythema should not extend proximal to the DIP joint.
